🎶 Terms & Conditions – Children’s Choir (Ages 9 to 13)
Welcome to the Sing for Joy Youth Choir! We are committed to providing a fun, inclusive, and safe environment where children can thrive musically, socially, and emotionally. Please read the following carefully — these terms are designed to ensure clarity, safety, and a positive experience for everyone involved.
🔐 Safeguarding & Supervision
-
The safety and wellbeing of all children is our top priority.
-
All staff and volunteers working with children are DBS (police) checked and have completed appropriate safeguarding training through our organisation.
-
Our average adult-to-child supervision ratio is 1:8 to ensure children are properly supported.
-
A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) will be present at every session.
-
Children must be signed in and out by a parent/carer or authorised adult.
🎤 Participation & Behaviour Expectations
-
We expect children to show respect for others and participate positively as part of the group.
-
Any disruptive or unsafe behaviour will be addressed sensitively but firmly. If necessary, parents/carers will be contacted.
-
Children should come prepared to join in with enthusiasm, kindness, and teamwork.
-
We ask that mobile phones remain away during sessions unless agreed for health reasons.
-
We sing rock pop and gospel.
📅 Attendance & Commitment
-
While the choir begins with monthly sessions as a pilot, we encourage regular attendance to help children build confidence and connection.
-
Please inform us in advance if your child is unable to attend.
-
Places in the choir are limited and offered at no cost. A lack of attendance without notice may result in the place being offered to another child.Parent/Guardian Supervision Requirement
For the safety and wellbeing of all children attending Sing for Joy, we kindly require that a parent or guardian remains on-site for the duration of each session. The Woolshed Café, located within the venue, is available as a waiting area, where tea and coffee can be purchased. This ensures that you are nearby in case of any need or emergency and helps us maintain a secure and supportive environment for all participants.
📸 Photography & Media
-
We may occasionally take photographs or videos for use in promoting the choir (e.g. website, social media, printed materials).
-
A separate consent form will be provided. No images or recordings will be used without written permission.
👨👩👧 Parental/Carer Responsibilities
-
Ensure your child arrives and is collected promptly at the agreed times.
-
Provide up-to-date emergency contact details and any relevant medical or additional needs information.
-
Let us know if someone else will be collecting your child.
-
Support your child’s participation by encouraging practice and positivity at home.
❤️ Inclusivity & Accessibility
-
Our choir is inclusive and open to children of all abilities.
-
Reading music is not required – we learn by ear, with energy and encouragement!
-
Please inform us of any additional needs so we can best support your child.
-
A project funded by For The Love Of Gospel. We are open to all regardless of faith culture or gender.
📍 Changes & Communication
-
We will communicate key dates, updates, and opportunities via email or via our Whatsapp group.
-
Any schedule or policy changes will be shared in writing with as much notice as possible.
By signing up for the choir, parents/carers and children agree to uphold these terms in the spirit of respect, fun and community.
If you have any questions or concerns at any stage, please don’t hesitate to speak with a member of our team.
