Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is For the Love of Gospel? For the Love of Gospel is a registered charity and passionate initiative dedicated to celebrating and sharing the transformative power of gospel music. Through various projects and initiatives, we aim to inspire, uplift, and unite communities through the universal language of music. We are open to all faiths, cultures and genders and many of our projects are open to all ages. 

2. What is the Sing for Joy project? Sing for Joy is one of our flagship projects, designed to bring the joyous spirit of gospel music into schools. Currently specifically centered around school years 5, 6 and 7's. SFG offers schools the opportunity to engage with gospel music through online learning, workshops performance, and community involvement.

3. Who can participate in Sing for Joy? Sing for Joy is open to schools of all backgrounds and musical abilities. Currently primary school years 6 and 7, and secondary school years 7's, or musical education institutions for children ages 9 to 12 years, we welcome your participation and enthusiasm.

4. What does participation in Sing for Joy involve? Participating schools will have access to a range of online resources, including curriculum materials, videos, audio files, a group workshop, and a performance opportunity. Students are encouraged to learn about the history and cultural significance of gospel music while developing their musical skills and confidence. We would encourage our project alongside and schools existing modules although this is not a prerequisite.  

5. How can my school apply for Sing for Joy? Applying for Sing for Joy is easy! Simply fill out our online application form, providing details about your school's interest, resources, and any specific needs or preferences you may have. We'll review your application and be in touch with further information.

6. Are there any costs associated with participating in Sing for Joy? For the Love of Gospel is a charity which strives to make participation in Sing for Joy as accessible and is free for all successful applicants. There are no costs for resources or workshops, we hope to ensure that financial barriers are not a hindrance to participation.

7. Can we request specific songs or resources for our school? For the love of Gospel provides all of the music repertoire for your participation in this fantastic event. We also encourage you to explore Gospel music and should you find a piece that you feel would be appropriate to email us with your suggestions. Perhaps we could use this at a later date

8. How can I get involved with For the Love of Gospel beyond the Sing for Joy project? We're always looking for passionate individuals and organizations to join us in spreading the love of gospel music. Whether you're interested in volunteering, collaborating on projects, or supporting our initiatives, we'd love to hear from you. 10. Do I have to be a music teacher to lead the learning? Our learning is designed to be accessible to all and you do not need to read music or have previous experience to lead the children's learning  Click here sample our learning resources. Your can even try this before you commit to applying. 

11. When do I need to apply by? Applications for the project close October 2024, this being said our project may be fully subscribed by this date. 

12. Can parents come and support in the audience? Tickets will be available via the venue's box office at a subsidised rate. Tickets will be limited and released to parents first before the public. Tickets sales help support the charities event with all profits going straight back to supporting events.

13. Whats are the time commitments of being involved. Each music facilitator can move through these steps at their own pace, based on their judgment of the children's readiness. However, we aim to complete one song per month, allowing ample time for rehearsal before the big performance. With this easy guide, teachers can facilitate the learning process efficiently, ensuring clear timings and expectations for all involved.

It is also extremely important that you continue to rehearse and practice the songs that you have learned, so that the children feel continued confidence with each song in the performance repertoire.
